Local Engagement

Keep it Clean! The River Kent Needs You.

CRKC want to inspire individuals and businesses to protect the River Kent - from pet owners and septic tank owners through to local householders.

By making small changes to our everyday habits, we can significantly reduce the amount of chemicals reaching and harming the special river that we all love.

River clean-ups

We organise annual river clean-ups, in partnership with Lakeland Canoe Club, to remove and recycle or dispose of rubbish in and on the banks of the river Kent. Our next event will be Autumn 2025.

CRKC is also part of a river clean-up event for Kendal Mountain Festival, organised in association with Save our Rivers & Trash Free Trails.

Outreach

We regularly organise activities and stands at a local events; and give talks to organisations, local authorities and other partners.

CRKC has collaborated on educational projects with local schools, such as river dipping at Staveley School in partnership with South Cumbria Rivers Trust.

We have worked with the National Trust on a walking guide to the River Kent.

We work closely with Natural Kendal on river nature recovery initiatives.

We collaborate with other local river groups, sharing ideas & information.
