A Charter of Rights for the River Kent? Free talk by Guest Speaker Josh Levene, Director of Love Our Ouse
A date for your diary. Friday, 16th May , 7:00pm – 9:00pmVenue: Abbott Hall Social Centre, Dowkers Lane, Kendal LA9 4DN
There’s a growing movement in the UK to recognise nature as part of our legal, moral, and political community through a Rights of Nature lens. In March 2025, Lewes District Council became the first in the UK to acknowledge a Charter of Rights for a river.
Josh Levene will explore what this means for other rivers, including the River Kent, and how a river rights charter can support regeneration and protection. This interactive session offers a chance to dive into these vital issues and imagine new possibilities for our waterways.
